MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL
#359, April 2013 - “Scene Report Greenville SC” by Noah Taylor - “Sun Sweet Sun is an outrageously violent noise-pop duet. A set hasn’t gone by that at least two guitar strings aren’t broken and there aren’t at least a few fresh bloodstains on the pickups.”

Earmilk, “The Indie Sabbath” Week 22 - November 7, 2011 “….Keeping the down-tempo ambiance in mind, we have Sun Sweet Sun. Based in Greenville, South Carolina …. this atmospheric  space-pop is a sign of some truly innovative composition. As you get lost in the soaring vocals and droning synth patches of "Even Spacemen Need a Little Love", a sharp guitar strum echos in the distance, jerking you from a dream-like trance….”

Greenville Journal “No Limits” by Vincent Harris - December 18, 2015 - “What’s stunning about the music Nichols has made with his band, not to mention the solo acoustic work he’s somehow also found time for, is that you’d never sense any of that struggle when you listen to it. His music with the Limbs is a lo-fi lover’s dream, all pure-pop melodies coated by grimy, distorted guitars, with a skewed lyrical perspective….”

Greenville Journal: The music of Jim & The Limbs is an interesting mix of pure-pop melodies encased in a shell of heavy guitar noise, which is exactly how singer/songwriter/guitarist James Wesley Nichols envisioned it….”

Indie Rock Cafe: “This section of Best New Releases keeps with our tradition of presenting good and interesting music from relatively unknown to completely unknown signed, but mostly DIY, unsigned artists who sent their music directly to us. Greenville, South Carolina indie space pop/noise-rock band Sun Sweet Sun, ….. is probably our favorite DIY artist with a new album out this week, Goodbye, Strange World [sic]….. The first track, “Planet Earth,” is edgier, fuzzier and noisy than the more spacey, reverb-heavy, predominantly vocal-lead sound of “Even Spacemen Need A Little Love” is charming enough on its own. They describe their music as ‘Lewis Carrol by way of James Dickey…a broad-ranging home-recording project and also a raggedly enthusiastic live band with a bit of Warholian mythologizing.’ ……. we like their style – definitely can see why they count The Flaming Lips among their biggest influences.”
